BS S150 – Martensitic stainless steel

BS S150 is a martensitic stainless steel which has undergone a high level of metallurgical testing so that it can be used for in aerospace applications.

It has comparable structural strength to low alloy carbon steels but with much superior corrosion resistance and therefore can be used in structural components such as the landing gear on commercial aircraft.

It is capable of hardening upon air cooling, has a high resistance to stress-corrosion and can be used at elevated temperatures up to 650°C.  This makes it suitable for gas turbines applications both for commercial aircraft and power generation.
